Chris Lunsford, known by his grandfather’s name Oliver Anthony, is a singer-songwriter from the Piedmont-Appalachian region. He rose to fame in 2023 with his viral hit, “Rich Men North of Richmond,” which critiques government policies and the struggles of working-class Americans. The song made history by debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard charts, amassing over 486 million Spotify streams, and earning multiple chart-topping hits. His raw, soulful voice and Americana sound reflect the challenges and resilience of small-town communities.

In 2024, Oliver Anthony released his debut album Hymnal of a Troubled Man’s Mind, produced by Grammy-winning Dave Cobb. The album dives into themes of nostalgia, adulthood struggles, and a worldview that transcends politics.

Committed to his roots, Oliver Anthony uses his platform to highlight rural America’s struggles and triumphs. His music gives voice to those often unheard in mainstream media, cementing his place as a powerful advocate for rural issues.

Beyond music, Oliver Anthony leads the Rural Revival Project, aiming to revitalize Appalachian communities through music festivals, mental health support, and sustainable farming. The project also focuses on preserving traditional rural life and plans to transform a 225-acre farm into an educational center for healing and growth.

Through his music and advocacy, Oliver Anthony strives to create a more self-sustaining, resilient future for rural America.
